I picked up "Bridie's Boy" on a trip home to Chicago at a local southside bookstore. Loving the insight of local authors motivated me to make my purchase. The honesty and humor with which Sean relays his Chicago Irish Catholic upbringing echoed within my heart and psyche. His ability to shamelessly recount his childhood emotions, antics and reflections make the book deeply engaging. And if you just so happen to be Irish and Catholic, or know someone who is, he offers endless opportunities to take a peak into stories that are all too familiar and all to often unspoken.
