Excellent cookbook for kids. Printed in 1980, it features a number of menus for a variety of American holidays like Valentine's Day and Halloween. It seems like it's geared toward kids ages 10+, but it lacks that overprotective feel one often gets from kids' cookbooks; it assumes kids can handle knives, stoves, and hot oil, but stops short of having kids handle open flame. The menus are for the most part easy to prepare and most are done from scratch. Instructions for safe food handling and notes about the customs and origins of the holidays are welcome touches. This seems like a good choice for parents who want to help their kids learn how to cook. And the illustrations are so cute!
