No one expects war to come so suddenly. Asa is drawn into the bloody fighting on Battle Road as the British return to Boston after leaving Lexington and Concord. He joins his militia as they take part in the siege of Boston. Dan and Erin are trapped in Boston during the siege. They must find a way to save their business and somehow get out of the city. They all take their parts in the upheaval of the first days of the American Revolutionary War, leading to the showdown, in mid-June, of the Battle of Bunker Hill. This novel, written at grade level 4, is suitable for 4th grade through adult, and for advanced students of English as a Second Language.
